25yo Arsenal star struggles continue on Int'l duty with 5/10 performance, he could be dropped

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka produced another disappointing performance on Nations League duty for England.

The 25-year-old has been the undisputed right-winger for the Three Lions when fit, but his form has been far from impressive this month.

The winger struggled to impose himself against Spain last week and had an equally difficult outing against Czechia on the road.

Czechia were down to 10 men early on, but Saka registered just one shot on target and missed a big scoring opportunity.

The Gunners ace completed 88 percent of his passes, but he was largely ineffective before being replaced by Rio Ngumoha late on.

Unsurprisingly, the English media were not pleased with his performance, and Saka received a 5/10 rating across multiple outlets.

“This was not a great night for Saka, who wasted some promising positions with poor delivery or by turning backwards. Could have been more direct.” – The Telegraph.

“One good corner delivery but missed a big chance in the first half and didn’t have one of his better games in an England shirt.” – Standard Sport.

“The goal appeared at his mercy until Jiri Slama produced the block a la John Terry. Not his most creative night for club or country.” – The Daily Mail.

Saka started the 2026/27 season brilliantly with Arsenal, scoring against Coventry City and Aston Villa. He scored a crucial winner against the latter in the Midlands.

Since then, the Gunners graduate has not netted from open play. He scored a penalty against Sunderland away from home, which remains his last goal involvement.

His form is obviously a cause for concern, particularly at the international level. Saka has been underwhelming in his last two games against Spain and Czechia.

England have two more Nations League matches against Croatia (away) and Czechia (home), and Saka could be rested or likely dropped for the weekend’s encounter.

From Arsenal’s point of view, they will be hoping that Saka does not start against Croatia, given his heavy workload at the start of the season and recent injury record.
