Young striker posts goodbye message on Instagram after claims Arsenal agree deal to sign him

Arsenal remain very active in the final week of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners need reinforcements in their attack, and Mikel Arteta is hoping that Andrea Berta could work some magic before the window shuts on Tuesday.

The Arsenal first-team isn’t the only agenda, though. The academy needs help as well, and work is going on to strengthen the youth sides.

One player heavily linked with the North Londoners is Igor Tyjon. It now looks like he is on his way to join the club.

Igor Tyjon posts goodbye message to Blackburn Rovers ahead of expected Arsenal transfer

Arsenal have been chasing Tyjon for several months now.

The Gunners came close to signing the young Blackburn Rovers forward in each of the last two transfer windows, but a move never materialised.

However, Arsenal look set to get lucky this time, with multiple reports claiming that a deal has been struck for a transfer.

The Athletic have revealed that the champions are set to pay an initial £1 million to sign Tyjon, plus add-ons and a percentage of any future sale.

The report claimed that the teenager even underwent a medical on Friday ahead of a move.

Now, Tyjon has all but confirmed the above by posting a goodbye message to Blackburn Rovers fans, staff and teammates.

He wrote on Instagram: “I would like to thank Rovers for the last three years. Thank you to all my teammates and staff throughout the years. I’ve made friendships for life and memories I won’t forget.

“Lots of ups and downs and learning on the way. The last couple of months have been tough due to certain people and reasons I can’t say, but I will never forget the good times at this club.”

Arsenal’s plan for Igor Tyjon

Tyjon has played for both Blackburn’s U18s and U21s sides.

Most of his appearances last season came for the U21s, even though he’s just 18 years of age. The same is set to continue at Arsenal.

The Evening Standard have revealed that Tyjon will initially join the Gunners’ U21s side, but he will be given opportunities to train under Arteta in the first team.

The report goes as far as saying that the teenager ‘will feature for Mikel Arteta’s first team in some capacity this season’, which is really interesting.

Tyjon is a huge talent, and it will be really interesting to see how he will fare in the red and white in the coming months.
