Arsenal decide who their 'Plan B' is if Julian Alvarez rejects them
The Julian Alvarez to Arsenal deal is looking more and more unlikely.
Mikel Arteta’s side received fresh hope a few days ago when Atletico Madrid released a statement saying they will not sell Alvarez to Barcelona.
That made Arsenal the favourites to sign the Argentine if he were to leave, but Alvarez has still not given the green light to the Gunners.
With just three days left in the summer transfer window, the Premier League champions need to consider alternatives, and it looks like they have done just that.
Arsenal’s ‘Plan B’ if Julian Alvarez snubs them is Iliman Ndiaye
Iliman Ndiaye has been on Arsenal’s radar for quite some time.
The Senegal international made a good name for himself at Sheffield United before impressing even more at Everton under David Moyes.
Even in the Toffees’ Premier League opener, Ndiaye was brilliant and showed Arsenal why they should sign him this summer.
Arsenal looked at Ndiaye before Morgan Rogers this summer, but so far, they haven’t made any concrete moves to sign him.
But that could change very soon if the door to signing Julian Alvarez doesn’t open in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Khadim Diakhate of D Sports in Senegal has revealed that Arsenal have made Ndiaye their ‘Plan B’ if they can’t land Alvarez.
Tottenham and Liverpool are also said to be interested in signing the Senegalese international.
Diakhate tweeted: “Iliman Ndiaye Dossier: Gakpo’s Departure to Manchester City Could Change Everything! Cody Gakpo is now very close to Manchester City, which strongly complicates any potential arrival of Iliman Ndiaye at the Citizens.
“At the same time, Arsenal are making him their Plan B if the Julian Alvarez deal doesn’t go through, while Tottenham remains very interested and still considers him their top priority.
“Liverpool are also keeping Iliman among its options in case of Gakpo’s departure.”
Reports have claimed that Everton value Ndiaye at a whopping £80 million. That would make him Arsenal’s second most expensive signing ever if the Gunners agree to pay that figure.
That does feel a bit too steep, but that’s how inflated the market is right now.
