Arsenal poised for £6.75m windfall with 25yo star set to join Everton
Arsenal are poised to receive a sizeable fee with Folarin Balogun’s move to Everton from AS Monaco on deadline day.
Balogun signed for the Ligue 1 outfit from the Gunners for £35 million three years ago. As part of the deal, Arsenal inserted a 17.5 percent sell-on clause, which they will now benefit from.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the USA international has already agreed personal terms with Everton and will move to the Merseyside outfit for an initial £38.6m plus £4.3m in add-ons.
The Gunners will be assured a fixed fee of at least £6.75m as part of the transfer. They could also receive a training solidarity contribution of £1.5m, given he spent his entire youth career at Arsenal.
Arsenal set to profit from Balogun’s return to England
Balogun graduated through Arsenal’s youth system and was part of the first team for a couple of years. His most notable contribution came in the Europa League. He scored against Molde, home and away.
The 25-year-old made just a couple of Premier League appearances in his career with the Gunners. His only start came in the curtain-raiser in 2021/22, where Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat at Brentford.
Balogun has since transformed his fortunes in Ligue 1, first with Reims on loan before succeeding at Monaco. He netted 19 goals for the Principality outfit last campaign and went on to star for the USA at the World Cup.
The Gunners graduate has finally got another opportunity in the English top-flight. Thierno Barry has started the season in fine form, but the huge investment in Balogun suggests that he could be the leading striker under Toffees manager David Moyes.
Arsenal could receive as much as £8.25m from the transfer (including solidarity training compensation). The sell-on fee will likely be settled in instalments rather than outright unless the Toffees pay the entire fixed sum to Monaco for the centre-forward.
