Ashley Cole may have just given the most sensible title prediction comment

Listening to pundits predict how the Premier League title race will unfold could make you want to hand the trophy to Arsenal before the other 37 games have been played, and who can blame them?

The Gunners are defending champions and have managed to keep the main players who helped them win the title last season, while also adding top players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa to their squad this summer. They have been one of the top teams in the country by a mile, although Manchester City came close to them last term, with Arsenal ultimately proving to be the better side.

Arsenal viewed as the strongest team

Over the last four seasons, Arsenal have been one of the best teams in the country, so they deservedly became champions at the end of last term. This Arsenal team has been one of the finest they have assembled, and it is difficult for the Gunners not to beat teams when they play at their best.

In their two competitive games this season, they have dominated and beaten their opponents, leading many pundits to believe that very little could go wrong for them. Their strength, confidence and additions this summer have only increased expectations surrounding their chances of retaining the Premier League title.

Cole urges caution over title race

However, Ashley Cole admits that Arsenal are a strong team, while insisting that it is too early to decide which side will be champions next summer. The Metro quoted him as saying:

‘I think it’s too early to say.

‘I think Arsenal look the strongest with what they’ve added and the confidence and belief they’ll have after their amazing season last year.

‘But who knows? It’s too early to say.’

Cole’s comments provide a note of caution despite the optimism surrounding Arsenal. The Gunners may currently look like the strongest team in the division, but there are still 37 league matches to play, meaning plenty can change before the title is decided.

Arsenal’s strong start and impressive squad have understandably made them favourites in the eyes of many observers. Nevertheless, Cole believes the title race should not be decided before it has properly begun, with the coming months expected to provide a much clearer indication of whether Arsenal can retain their crown.
