Arsenal fans want £42m star's position changed immediately after seeing what he did in training

Arsenal fans want £42m star's position changed immediately after seeing what he did in training

Arsenal continue to have a goalscoring problem with their strikers.

Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz are both very effective with what they do at the top end of the pitch, but both players have struggled to find the net on a consistent basis.

That is probably why Arsenal want to sign Julian Alvarez, and reports have claimed that Andrea Berta has held talks about Victor Osimhen as well.

However, Arsenal fans think they have identified an elite striker in their squad, but he has been playing in the wrong position all along.

Arsenal fans think Riccardo Calafiori is the striker they need after seeing his shooting

Riccardo Calafiori is among the most unique players on the planet.

The £42 million Italian is a defender by trade, someone who can play both as a left-back and in central defence, but his elite movement gives him the ability to thrive in any position.

What makes Calafiori even better is his shooting ability – it’s one of the best at Arsenal, even though he is a defender.

That was evident when the former Bologna man took part in a shooting drill alongside several forwards, and he was the best of the lot.

After watching Calafiori score two screamers from outside the box, many Arsenal fans reacted by saying he should be a striker.

One tweeted: “Calafiori as a CF would be incredible.”

Another wrote: “Can we just play Calafiori as a CF?”

“Calafiori would be our best striker,” said another.

Another Gooner posted: “Calafiori might just be the £100 million striker we need. If only Havertz could play left-back.”

“We should honestly convert Calafiori to a striker, easily better than Havertz and Gyokeres,” tweeted another.

Riccardo Calafiori has already scored a striker’s goal for Arsenal

Calafiori as a striker is never going to happen at Arsenal, but the freedom he is allowed gives him the chance to occupy a centre-forward’s position at times.

That happened during a Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven in his debut season.

Calafiori made a terrific run in behind the defence and was found by Martin Odegaard. The Italy international calmly rolled the ball under the goalkeeper into the back of the net.

Although he hasn’t scored many such goals, Arsenal fans have always wanted Calafiori to be converted to a striker.

That is once again the case now after watching his terrific finishing in training.
