Nottingham Forest In Advanced Talks To Sign Daniel Munoz From Crystal Palace In £25m Deal

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a move for Crystal Palace right back Daniel Munoz as the summer transfer window approaches its final hours.
The BBC are reporting that Forest are in “advanced talks” with Crystal Palace over a deal that could be worth up to £25 million for the Colombian defender.
“An agreement between the two clubs is now understood to be close as Tuesday’s transfer deadline nears,” according to the BBC’s report on the developing situation.
Forest appointed former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner this summer, and the Austrian coach is reportedly eager to reunite with one of his most trusted players from his time at Selhurst Park.
Munoz has made 109 appearances for Crystal Palace and was a key figure under Glasner as the south London club claimed both the FA Cup and the Europa Conference League.
Despite Palace’s reluctance to part with a player who has been a regular starter, the club are understood to accept that the situation has reached a natural conclusion.
The 30-year-old has just two years remaining on his current contract, meaning this summer represents the most financially sensible moment for Palace to cash in on him.
Nottingham Forest have operated with considerable financial muscle this summer, with the £116 million banked from the sale of Eliot Anderson back in June providing significant transfer resources.
Forest drew with Liverpool most recently and may not yet look like a fully settled side, but the recruitment of Glasner and continued investment signal clear European ambitions for the club.
Landing Munoz would serve a dual purpose for Forest, simultaneously strengthening their own squad while removing an established performer from a direct Premier League rival.
Crystal Palace will be the weaker for losing him, but with the contract situation as it stands, resisting the move for much longer would risk losing him for far less further down the line.
If the deal is confirmed before Tuesday’s deadline, Munoz will become one of Nottingham Forest’s most prominent signings of what has already been a very active transfer window.
