Gary Neville must be stunned by what Mikel Arteta has done for Arsenal vs Chelsea

Gary Neville must be stunned by what Mikel Arteta has done for Arsenal vs Chelsea

Arsenal have named a strong starting line-up for their game against Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta’s men have had a great start to the season, beating Manchester City, Coventry and Aston Villa in consecutive games.

Chelsea have won each of their two Premier League fixtures so far as well, which makes this a fascinating battle at the Emirates.

However, one of Arteta’s decisions is sure to shock Gary Neville.

Gary Neville will be shocked by Mikel Arteta’s Christos Tzolis decisions vs Chelsea

Arsenal have one of the best squads in the Premier League.

The Gunners have at least two world-class players in nearly every position, and that is one of the reasons why they are many people’s favourites to retain the title.

The one area of the squad Arsenal are weak in is their left wing.

Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard were both sold, but only Christos Tzolis was brought in as a replacement.

The Greek international had a poor game against Aston Villa, and he was replaced by Eberechi Eze, who was excellent in his place.

After the game, Neville claimed that he would be ‘stunned’ if Tzolis wasn’t dropped against Chelsea by Arteta.

He said: “I’d be surprised if Eze didn’t play next week against Chelsea. It’s a big game that, I’m really looking forward to it.

“But I just think because of the sort of size of that game, it may be that Mikel Arteta just says to Tzolis: ‘Just have a look at this match. Just watch it. I’m not going to put you into this one.’

“Eze’s got a bit more body strength about him. He’s got more experience in the Premier League. I’d be stunned if he didn’t play next week, purely because of the fact that he played really well in that second half, and he looked like he handled a physical game well away from home against Aston Villa.

“So, yeah, I don’t think they can change it now.”

Well, Arteta has ignored Neville and named Tzolis ahead of Eze against Chelsea, and we think that is the right decision.

The former Club Brugge man will have a lot more space against the Blues than he did against Villa, and that should bring the best out of him.

Neville must be stunned, but we are fully behind the Arsenal manager’s decision here.
